Institute of Magnetism (IMAG) was founded in June 1995 on the basis of two departments of the Institute for Metal Physics and one department of the Institute of Geochemistry, Mineralogy and Ore Formation, both research institutes of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
The Institute was founded by the Joint Order of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the Ministry of Education of Ukraine on August 17, 1995, No. 181/249.

The Institute was established by the Joint Order of the Presidium of  the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the Ministry of Education of Ukraine on August 17, 1995, No. 181/249.
