Iurii I. Gorobets was born in 1947, he was graduated from the Physics and
Engineering Faculty of Kharkiv State University in 1971, defended his PhD thesis
in 1974 in the field of theoretical physics. In 1982, he defended his doctoral
dissertation in the specialty of solid state physics, in 1984, he received the degree
of professor, he became a corresponding member of the National Academy of
Educational Sciences of Ukraine since 1999.
Since 1974 to 1995, Iurii I. Gorobets worked at Donetsk State University as
an assistant professor, senior lecturer, associate professor, professor, head of the
department of theoretical physics and vice-rector of scientific work. Since 1995 to
2000, he worked as Deputy Minister of Education of Ukraine. Since 2001 to 2015,
he worked as the Deputy Director of the Institute of Magnetism of NAS of Ukraine
and MES of Ukraine. Since 2016 till now he works as a Director of the Institute of
Magnetism of NAS of Ukraine and MES of Ukraine and heads of the Department
of General and Experimental Physics at the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics at
the National Technical University of Ukraine "Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic
Institute" and delivers lectures in the field of theoretical physics.
Iurii I. Gorobets is a laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine in the field of
science and technology, Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine,
laureate of the Prize of Academician Pekar of the NAS of Ukraine and was
awarded the Medal of Merit of the II and III degrees by the President of Ukraine.
He is the author of more than 300 scientific works, including 4 monographs
and 4 manuals. He prepared 20 PhD and 7 doctors of physical and mathematical
sciences.
Areas of research are fundamental and applied problems of meso- and
nanoscale crystalline magnetic structures, including studies of spin waves and
magnetic three-dimensional solitons and skyrmions in ferro- and antiferromagnets,
problems of the influence of magnetic fields on electrochemical reactions at the
metal-electrolyte interface, inverstigation of magnetic properties of biogenic
magnetic nanoparticles.
